Our Background
The Conservatory of Contemporary Music (CoCM) was founded in 2020 by 2 former instructors of the Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, Ca. Remote learning has become more prevalent in recent years, thus the CoCM was created. Many schools have cut music programs entirely. We believe that this is a detriment to students learning basic, fundamental life skills (logical problem solving, patience, dedication, preparation, and managing expectations). It has also been proven that learning a musical instrument is an effective way to raise I.Q.
At the CoCM, we believe an affordable, simple way of getting music instruction to our youth is essential. While the majority of our instructors teach at the college level, all levels and ages are welcome. Current enrolled students range in age from 7-76 years old. Upon contacting the school, we will schedule the first “assessment” lesson, which is free of charge. The introductory lesson is to assess a) what level of proficiency the student is currently at, b) what their musical goals are, c) ensure they have the proper equipment for effective lessons, and d) any other details of importance in setting up a lesson schedule. We then will ensure we choose the right instructor for each individual student, unless of course the student already has a preferred instructor in mind.
